Emergency Medical Care Committee
The Monterey County Emergency Medical care Committee (EMCC) Council shall advise the Board of Supervisors and the EMS Director on EMS issues.
There are eleven (11) voting members of the EMCC Council, appointed by the Board of Supervisors as follows:
1. A representative from a fire-protection agency that provides prehospital emergency medical services at the “basic life support” level, nominated by the Monterey County Fire Chiefs’ Association;
2. One representative from a fire-protection agency that provides prehospital emergency medical services at the EMT-Paramedic level, nominated by the Monterey County Fire Chiefs’ Association;
3. One representative from a law-enforcement agency that provides prehospital emergency medical services, nominated by the Monterey County Law Chiefs’ Association;
4. One representative of hospital administration, nominated by the local Hospital Council;
5. One representative of City Managers, nominated by the Monterey County City Managers’ Association;
6. One representative from the Monterey County Parks Department;
7. Three (3) citizen representatives, nominated by the EMS Director with attention to appropriate geographic representation;
8. One emergency physician, nominated by the Monterey County EMS Medical Advisory Committee;
9. One Monterey County accredited EMT-Paramedic, nominated by the EMS Director; and
10. The Office Emergency Services Manager shall serve as ex-officio, non-voting member of the EMCC.
The Emergency Medical Care Committee normally meets bi-monthly; scheduled from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month, at the Monterey County Government Center in Salinas. Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC) meetings are open to the public.
