Communicable Disease Unit
The Communicable Disease Unit is responsible for monitoring, investigating, and controlling approximately 85 reportable diseases/conditions in Monterey County. Individual cases with high public health significance are investigated to ensure adequate prevention measures and treatment regimens are initiated. Epidemiologic investigations are conducted when clusters and/or outbreaks are identified. The Communicable Disease Unit provides medical providers, schools, businesses, and community members with guidance regarding communicable disease issues.
